FASO DEME BAGAOU COMMUNITY PROJECT FROM BURKINA FASO TO THE WORLD
Mission and Background
This Programme operates at Bolomakote School in the Bolomakote district of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The school currently provides education to 321 students, both boys and girls, serving the local community with a strong commitment to inclusive, accessible, and quality learning.
The programme is designed for children aged 5–6 through 11–12, covering primary (elementary) education. In most education systems, this corresponds to Grades 1–6, typically serving children between the ages of 6 and 12.
Our mission is to improve access to quality education, promote equal opportunities for all children, and support the long-term social and economic development of the community.

Faso Deme Bagaou's Objectives:
-
Elevate the student experience and foster a stronger community by enhancing every stage of a student's scholarship journey.
-
Create sustainable foundations by setting consistent small goals, and ensure that the support we provide today benefits the generations of tomorrow.
-
Provide consistent nutrition and modern facilities to ensure students have the dignity and support they need to focus entirely on their education.

A Child Between Worlds
The Story of Moussa, Founder of FASO DEME BAGAOU
FASO DEME BAGAOU was founded by a man whose life began between two families, two countries, and two destinies.
Moussa was born on September 21, 1982, in the small village of Ouarkuye, near Dédougou, Burkina Faso. His father came from the Dembele family of Burkina Faso, and his mother from the Keita family of Mali — two proud lineages rich in history, artistry, and tradition.
But his birth came under difficult circumstances.
His mother was only fourteen years old. Since the age of twelve, she had been promised in marriage to another man in Benena, Mali. When she became pregnant, her family faced an impossible decision: to honour a long-standing ancestral promise or to embrace the new life growing within her.
Bound by tradition and cultural expectation, they chose to honour the marriage agreement.
The child was hidden away, and his young mother was sent across the border to fulfil the marriage she had been pledged to. Forbidden to speak of her son, she carried her sorrow in silence.
Three months later, the baby boy was entrusted to relatives from the Keita family. A couple who were unable to have children took him in and raised him as their own. In their home in Djibasso, near the Mali border, he was given a new name: Moussa.
And so he grew up as Moussa — a child between worlds, carrying two family histories, two identities, and a story shaped by separation and resilience.
What work needs to be done!
Food Spaces:
Faso Deme Bagaou's primary quest is to provide food five days a week to students at the Balamakote school.
Nonetheless,
The room available on the school's land can be a great opportunity for renovation to offer students a refectory.
Garden Spaces:
With more than 300 square meters of available land, the school possesses a significant and underused resource. Faso Deme Bagaou seeks to rehabilitate and enrich this land, transforming it into a highly productive garden capable of supporting the school’s nutritional needs. By cultivating its own vegetables, the school will substantially reduce its reliance on external food suppliers, strengthen its food security, and promote long-term sustainability. Once fully established, this fertile garden will enable the school to consistently provide fresh, home-grown produce for its students.
Toilet Facilities:
The school is equipped with basic restroom structures intended for student use. However, these facilities have deteriorated significantly and no longer meet acceptable standards of safety, hygiene, or functionality. Their current condition renders them unsuitable for daily use and exposes children to serious health and safety risks. Immediate rehabilitation is therefore essential to ensure a clean, secure, and dignified environment for all students.
Rehearsal Room:
This room will be designed as an engaging, hands-on space for students to explore the performing arts. The environment will feature vibrant, colourful wall decorations—including theatrical masks that symbolise drama, acting, and comedy—creating an atmosphere that sparks creativity and expression.
The room will function as a fully equipped creative arts classroom, with traditional African musical instruments neatly stored on shelves for easy access. Open floor areas will provide ample space for movement, making it ideal for dance, performance activities, and collaborative artistic exploration.
Overall, this space will serve as an inspiring hub where students can immerse themselves in dance, comedy, and music, with a special emphasis on the richness of African cultural traditions.
Library:
The charity aims to establish a modern facility that provides children with access to technology, like computers, on one side, while also offering traditional resources such as books and manuals on the other side.
Sport activities:
Faso Deme Bagaou aims to support children's school education as much as their physical education, which is a crucial part of their school journey.
The major sport already played in Africa and in Bolomakote school is Football.
Living Spaces / Shelters:
Faso Deme Bagaou seeks to renovate rooms available on the school's land into adequate houses and living spaces to accommodate its volunteers who travel directly to the field to support its activities.
Establishing proper facilities will ensure a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for volunteers, enabling them to work effectively and sustain their commitment to the charity’s mission.
