About the Project
Faso Deme Bagaou is a community-led initiative created by artist Moussa Dembele, supporting students at Bolomakote School in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
The project works in collaboration with the local community to support education, wellbeing, and safe learning environments.
Nature of Volunteering
By applying or participating as a volunteer, you agree that:

Your role is supportive and collaborative, not directive

The project is community-led, with decisions guided locally

Volunteering is unpaid, unless otherwise agreed in writing

You are not an employee or official representative unless authorised
Safeguarding & Working with Children
The safety and wellbeing of children is our highest priority.
All volunteers must:

Act with care, professionalism, and responsibility
-
Maintain appropriate boundaries with children
-
Never engage in harmful, inappropriate, or exploitative behaviour
-
For on-site volunteers, a background check may be required.
Photography & Media
-
Always ask permission before taking photos or videos
-
Represent children and the community with dignity and respect
-
Do not share images or content without prior consent

Cultural Respect & Conduct
This project is rooted in community collaboration.
Volunteers are expected to:

Act with humility and respect

Honour local customs, traditions, and leadership

Avoid imposing external views or solutions that may have biases

Engage with openness and willingness to learn
Health, Travel & Responsibility
For on-site volunteers:

You are responsible for your own travel, insurance, vaccinations, and visas

Participation is at your own risk
Faso Deme Bagaou and its organisers are not liable for:

personal injury or illness
-
loss or damage to personal belongings
-
travel-related issues
Data Protection & Confidentiality
Volunteers agree to:

Respect the privacy of students and the community
-
Not share personal data or sensitive information without consent

Use any project-related material responsibly
Representation of the Project
Volunteers must:

Represent the project respectfully and truthfully
-
Not speak on behalf of the project without permission
-
Avoid sharing misleading or unauthorised information
Commitment & Conduct
Volunteers are expected to:

Communicate respectfully
-
Be honest about availability and capacity
-
Act in alignment with the values of the project
Ending Volunteering
Faso Deme Bagaou reserves the right to end a volunteer’s involvement at any time if these guidelines are not respected or behaviour is inappropriate.
Volunteers may also end their involvement at any time.
Safeguarding Policy

The following safeguarding policy is a core part of this agreement and must be followed by all volunteers.
Purpose
Faso Deme Bagaou is committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all children involved in the project.
Expected Behaviour
All volunteers must:

Treat children with respect and dignity

Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times

Act in a safe and responsible manner

Avoid any behaviour that could be harmful or misinterpreted
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following is not tolerated:

Any form of physical, emotional, or verbal abuse

Inappropriate physical contact
-
Exploitative or sexual behaviour
-
Discrimination, harassment, or intimidation
Photography & Media

Always seek permission before taking photos or videos
-
Ensure content is respectful and appropriate
-
Do not share identifiable images of children without consent
-
Avoid content that may misrepresent or exploit individuals
Reporting Concerns
If a concern arises:

It should be reported as soon as possible to the project lead
-
All concerns will be taken seriously and handled appropriately
Responsibility
All volunteers are responsible for:

Following this policy
-
Acting in the best interest of children and the community
-
Raising concerns where necessary
Breach of Policy
Failure to follow this policy may result in:
-
Immediate removal from the project
-
Further action where necessary
