Drumming Workshop
5:30PM
What to Expect
- Each participant will have access to a djembe to play during the session (you’re also welcome to bring your own if you have one). - We’ll begin with an introduction to West African instruments. Our master instrumentalist and griot, Moussa Dembele, will guide us through storytelling while introducing instruments such as the djembe, dumdums, ngonikora, and balafon. - Together, we’ll explore and build 3 to 4 rhythms using the djembes, gradually layering sound, adding melodies, and incorporating voice through group singing. - The session will last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, at 5:30PM
